Today's ride was from Grants, NM to Albuquerque, NM
The ride today went through some scenic areas. The rock formations are interesting.
The next three photo's are of a lava flow that went through this valley. It was a few miles long but I didn't realize it until the valley got narrower and it was obvious that the lava flow was only in the middle.

Not a lot of traffic on Route 66 most of the people travel on I-40 which is a few miles to the right of the photo
The start of a 5 mile, very scenic section of Route 66
Back on Interstate 40 for 22 miles

The first of a few hills to climb tomorrow morning.
For over a week now I have not seen another bicyclist, either a touring cyclists or day riders. Perhaps tomorrow when I get to Albuquerque. Today I got the chance to see how fast I could instantaneously accelerate the bicycle. Three different times I was chased by dogs. It takes a while to get the heart rate back to normal after the encounters.
Excellent shots and commentary, Bob! I especially love the wildlife and attack dog stuff, of course. :) Way to out muscle those dogs and recover. I bet your HR was off the map! Here's one of my favorite tunes for you. Hopefully it works when you have wifi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLRHB3zTVIE
