Today's route was from Barstow to Ludlow
Just outside the the hotel was another Barstow sign. There are several similar signs in the town each with a different car on top.
An indication I'm on the right road.
Not a traffic light in sight!
One of the must see places noted on Route 66 today was the Bagdag Cafe.

Bagdad Café (also known as Out of Rosenheim) is a 1987 German film directed by Percy Adlon. It is a comedy-drama set in a remote truck-stop café and motel in the Mojave Desert in the US state of California.[1]Loosely based on Carson McCullers' novella The Ballad of the Sad Café (1951), the film centers on two women who have recently separated from their husbands, and the blossoming friendship that ensues. It runs 95 minutes in the U.S. and 108 minutes in the German version.
I thought the price of gas in Newberry Springs was high. The price in Fenner was 4.99 for regular and 5.25 for premium.
And again the scenery is great. I think it is called big sky or open sky, you can see forever.
lots of black lava rock
Feeling good, the map says 9 miles of downhill, I'm ready for a fast ride.
The ride today as been on some very good pavement EXCEPT for the last 9 miles of the ride. The road had a slight decline but was extremely, did I say EXTREMELY? rough. This was the worst road I have traveled, to date, on this trip
Lucky I didn't break anything.
Just as I got into town, (two gas stations, motel, cafe, and a truck / car repair place) there was a Dairy Queen in one of the gas stations so I got an Ice Cream after all of the pounding I endured.
