Today's ride was from Ash Fork, Az to Bellemont, Az
Mark and I met for breakfast at the Ranch House Cafe in Ash Fork. When we arrived, the restaurant had just opened and there were a few very friendly locals in there drinking coffee and told us that the waitress had not yet arrived and we could sit and wait. It wasn't too long before the waitress arrived.
Mark had forgotten his riding gloves so he went back to the hotel. He is a much stronger rider than I am so we and he was going to catch me on the long accent we had ahead. A couple of miles outside of town is a 12 mile climb. The big plus, the wind of 15-20 mph was mostly a tail wind with once in a while the wind turned in to a crosswind which made bike handling a little scary.
Mark caught me about halfway up the hill. We said our good-by's. Mark was going all the way to Flagstaff and I was only going to Bellemont.
Near the top of the hill was the first crossing over 7000 ft
Entering Williams there were flags that will give you an indication of the wind conditions
On the west end of Williams is a War Memorial.
This is the small plaque on the above photo
Small piece of the U.S.S. Arizona
The remainder of the ride to Bellemont was along Interstate 40. Long sections the quality of the shoulder was poor condition but no were as bad as the road going into Ludlow, Ca.
