Wednesday 15 July

Thanks to all that have made comments on the blog. It is interesting for me and to read the comments. And knowing that someone out there is reading this stuff.
Getting ready to leave Astoria, OR
The route today took me off highway 101 and along the Lewis and Clark Road. This was a very scenic road and there were very few cars which made it an enjoyable ride. Many of the trees on the hills have been cut for timber. In most cases the areas have been replanted.

Along the way, I saw a branch of a fruit tree broken off. The fruit is the size of a cherry but the leaves are not from  cherry tree. I found out it is in the plum family.
And another forest picture with the Pacific off in the distance. The buildings are part of the town Seaside

When I got to Seaside I stopped at an internet cafe and updated the blog to complete the information the State of Washington.  I spent the night in Seaside at someone's house that is part of Warmshowers.org.  Neil the house owner will let people stay at his house even if he's not there, you must be part of the warm showers organization. the night that I stayed there there were two other cyclists there as well. Neil has been doing this for a few years and has several journals of people writing notes about their stay at his house.

Spectacular photos! Oregon coast at the end of July, you are one lucky guy. Glad you have this blog, it has been great to read and see the pictures of your journey. If your interested, Devils punch bowl state park is a neat site in Otter Rock, OR, just off the 101. Enjoy the ride!

Wow! What an incredible journey, thus far! The greenery and water images are incredible.

I love your small town, eatery and humanity reports! Your shots and tales of Washington urge me to set up a summer home there. Props to Steve W for being such a cool, local host!

    Following along Dave.
