Friday 17 July

Todays ride is from Tillamook to Cape Lookout State Park. The ride out of Tillamook headed west to the coast. The road was relatively flat for a few miles then had a climb of about 1.5 miles to Cape Meares lighthouse.
The area around the lighthouse had some great views.

These rocks are called three arches. Visible are the small arches through the large rocks left and right. The center rock has a huge arch in the center which you can see in a later picture.

There are hundreds of birds living in the cliffs.

I stopped in the small town of Oceanside. My plan was a quick sandwich then continue on. After I was seated someone else came in and he was told there was atleast a 10 minute wait . I offered to let him to sit with me. Tom was in town for a book writers convention for writing children's books. (I hope I got it right Tom). We, rather I talked a lot. Tom kept asking questions about my trip. My quick lunch turned out to be not so quick but that was OK. I had a great time talking with Tom.  AND he bought me lunch. Thanks Tom.

I continued down the road to Cape Lookout State Park. The campground is superb.  This is  view of my campsite with the ocean in the background

These were taken while standing on the picnic table

This is a picture of the three arches. From this side you can see the middle arch.
