Today's ride was from Springfield, MO to Conway, MO
The early part of the ride was on busy city streets. Then the road turned into a two lane road with the rumble strip I was talking about yesterday
No rumble strip here...
Actually the further away from Springfield I got the lighter the traffic became. Everyone was courteous and gave me lots of space.
Note the amount of pollen on the frame and that's just from a couple of hours of riding. My nose is running and my eyes feel like there is sandpaper on the inside of my eyelids.
And the rolling hills.
After I checked into a motel I went next door to a local diner. The food was excellent and the waitresses were very friendly.
The last couple of riders I have met that were riding west, told me of a rider ahead of me that was also riding to Boston. First he was a couple of hours ahead of me then yesterday the Italians that I met said he was at least a day ahead of me. Today when I checked into the hotel the clerk said that a guy was here on Saturday and was cycling to Boston. I asked her if she could give me his contact information and she said no but she would send him my contact information. Dave Krom, sent me a text message. He is riding about 90 miles a day and is expecting to be in St Louis tonight. He is then heading east and hopes be to Boston the first week in June. He lives in Worcester and said I can stop by his place on my way through. I think Worcester is south of the route I'm planning on taking but maybe a route change in in order.
That rumble strip looks nasty!
