Today's route was from Erick, OK to Elk City, OK
I started the ride early today because of the weather forecast of a headwind.
Junk yard full of old vehicles.
Old windmills
Route 66.
I met Gianluca today. He is from northern Italy and is riding Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica.
There was almost no traffic along the entire route today. So far in Oklahoma, Route 66 is in fairly good condition. Significantly better than in Texas. The ride, today, was a little payback for the tailwind I had yesterday. I had a headwind the entire day. That's OK because the scenery is changing.
Friends from Tucson, Ed and Sophie Knab met up with me today. They are on their way to Missouri to ride the KATY tail. The KATY trail is a rails-to-trails route, going east-west across the state. From there Ed and Sophie are going home to Grand Island, New York. I will visit them on my way going to Boston from Chicago.
Wow! What an awesome visit! Great shot of the three of ya!
ReplyDeleteI love the junkyard shot. Looks like a slew of old American steel and at least one Japanese ride. I could spend days wandering those fields....
ReplyDeleteReally cool old signs!
